Dr Callan Reid
Registered Osteopath. B.Sc (Clinical Sci), M.H.Sc (Osteopathy), Adv. Dip (Myotherapy). Osteopathy Australia Member.
From acute sporting injuries, workplace postural strains or longer standing chronic conditions like lower leg tendon pain, Callan has helped a diverse range of people over many years in practice.
His treatments focus on alleviating the painful area and any stress placed on the rest of the body. Callan also takes a thorough medical history to help provide clues on how a patient might manage and further prevent pain.
Callan’s interest working in health was sparked when he saw his mother experience relief from frequent migraines with the help of massage. He devoted ten years of study to Myotherapy, and later Osteopathy, to build on this early passion adding a solid foundation in science, therapeutic hands-on techniques, neuroscience and rehabilitation.
Like many osteopaths, he was drawn to one of the guiding principles of Osteopathy; the body possesses self-healing mechanisms and it is the job of the therapist to provide a path for that person so they might enjoy a state of health.
Callan graduated with an Advanced Diploma in Remedial Massage (Myotherapy) in 2007 and has practiced eight years in a variety of clinical settings. He decided to further develop both his diagnostic and manual skills, graduating from Victoria university with a Masters of Health Sciences (Osteopathy) and a Bachelor of Clinical Sciences (Osteopathy) in 2017.
In addition to clinic practice, Callan works in an aged-care setting helping residents retain mobility and a good quality of life. He worked previously at Homesglen TAFE and Endeavour College, helping to train the next Remedial Massage Therapists and Myotherapists.
Callan is experiencing the joys and pressures as a new father, and enjoys walking his dog along the Darebin creek and improving his garden.
